Arlington T-Shirt Quilts is the home to master quilter Carla Lounsbury.
Lounsbury is a guild-accredited quilter that has been quilting for over twenty years. A popular mainstay in the community, Carla's quilt adorns the lobby of Nottingham Elementary School and her quilts have been auctioned off by various organizations such as Yorktown High School's Theater Department and Arlington Montessori School. She also spearheaded Nottingham Elementary School's Raffle to Benefit the 9/11 Memorial Fund.
Carla especially loves T-shirt quilts because of the way they allow her to use her art to tell someone’s story: Each T-shirt represents a special memory and Lounsbury’s quilts weave them together into a narrative tapestry.
The recipients of Carla's t-shirt quilts love them because each t-shirt represents a special memory and the quilts allow one to preserve memories while preserving closet space.
T-Shirts tell stories about school activities, races, events, vacations, hobbies, sports teams, bands, and work/business. The list is endless. Whether the quilt is for an avid marathon runner, fly fisherman, or retired soldier, the quilt holds memories and stories.
